Rout a Name into Wood with a Dremel 300 Series, Plunge Router #335 and Piloted Beading Bit #654, #612With the Dremel rotary tool and a plunge router attachment you can easily cut names in the wood. For this demonstration we're using a Dremel 300 series tool. You'll need the plunge router, a #654 Router Tit for carving the name, and a #612 Bit for routing the edge. A Dremel 400 series XPR, 200, or 100 series tool can also be used for this project. With the tool unplugged insert your bit into the tool and your tool into the plunge router. After you sketched the name you wish to rout and have selected the desired depth you're ready to begin.

Plug the tool in and be sure to have it up to speed before plunging the bit into wood. Following your outline remove material until your letters take form. After your letters are cut switch out your bit to #612 now you're ready to rout the edges. Once everything is routed to your liking paint and finish as you see fit. For deeper cuts bits will last longer if you work your total debt in thirds making a total of three passes.
